Monitor IBM Blade Center H SNMP issue

Dear all

Zenoss v 3.2.1

has anyone encountered issues with SNMP interigation on Zenoss?

I have created a new template to query power domain 1 & 2 on the IBM blade chassis, on the cmdline I get

zenoss@Test30125:~$ snmpget -c zenoss -v1 172.22.100.68 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.3.51.2.2.10.2.1.1.7.24

SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.2.3.51.2.2.10.2.1.1.7.24 = STRING: "1329W"

zenoss@Test30125:~$ snmpget -c zenoss -v1 172.22.100.68 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.3.51.2.2.10.3.1.1.7.24

SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.2.3.51.2.2.10.3.1.1.7.24 = STRING: "1044W"

However in the zenoss device I keep getting the following error

SNMP agent down

When I did the same for our Power Meters I had similiar problems, I have tried reducing the

zMaxOIDPerRequest 20 from 40

and increasing the timeout from 2.5 to 5

remembering both snmpwalk and snmpget cmds both resolve and return a value

Any ideas whats going on please?

    I believe that issue can be due to the string value returned instead of integer.

    Try:

    1. run on zenoss zenperfsnmp -v10 -d your_ibm_device and check for the debug

    2. capture traffic with tcpdump and see if replies are indeed coming

    I suggest you to change bash script to

    #!/bin/bash

    WattTotal=$(/usr/bin/snmpget -Oqv -c zenoss -v1 $1 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.3.51.2.2.10.2.1.1.7.24  | sed -e s/\"//g | sed -e s/W$//)

    echo "|watts=$WattTotal"

    then call it from zenoss command template as:

    scriptname.sh ${here/manageIp}

    and create watts datasource in this template which you can graph later

    Re: Monitor IBM Blade Center H SNMP issue

    Zenoss is expecting output to be like this:

    Datasource|Datapoint=value

    To have additional values:

    Datasource|Datapoint=value Datapoint2=value Datapoint3=value

    etc...
