Re: Enhancing users and roles in Zenoss Core

I have posted this ZenPacks beta code at https://github.com/zenoss/ZenPacks.skills1st.UserRoles

If this is a mistake, let me know... I just figured it would be good to get it up there.

I changed a README file and added .gitignore file, so you will want to pull these changes down.

    Do a

    git clone git://github.com/zenoss/ZenPacks.skills1st.UserRoles.git

If you have made changes Jane, pull them in and then git add/commit.

I also tagged as beta version.

Re: Enhancing users and roles in Zenoss Core

    I can't intalled the Zenpack by 3.2.1。

I copy this pack into the /opt/zenoss/ and run python setup.py install well。

but I found not ZenOpeater and ZenCommon role in the manage_access page.

    I try run __init__.py in the ZenPacks/ZenPacks.skills1st.UserRoles/ZenPacks/skills1st/UserRoles.

    $ python __init__.py

    Hi Jane,

How could it be possible to have the permissions like zenuser role but without the event console view?

It means that a role could only have the readonly access to the dashboard, infrastructure and reports.

Re: Enhancing users and roles in Zenoss Core

    Hi Jane,

It works, but I need to readd the device so that the devices could be displayed in the infra page.

I think someone has mentioned before, is there any way/solution to not to have such actions since we have hundreds of devices?

Re: Enhancing users and roles in Zenoss Core

    installation path is /usr/local/zenoss/zenoss.

    found the instructions https://github.com/jcurry/ZenPacks.skills1st.UserRoles/tree/master/ZenPacks/skills1st/UserRoles

Graphs are deliverd by the RenderServer in $ZENHOME/Products/ZenRRD/RenderServer.py.

Although the user's role is augmented by the Administered Object, this is only for a

device and the RenderService is not of class Device - hence no role applies

(and View is required).  This is fixed by the allowAuthenticatedRender method which

sets a ZEN_VIEW permission for the instance of class RenderServer, for any

    authenticated user.

I think that the problem with this. How do I fix it?
