the last days I recognized a strange behaviour of my zenoss core (version 3.0.3) installation.
It is configured with two users, first the admin without any email address or alerting rule. And second the normal user with an email address and some alerting rules.
Normally everytime a event fits with any alerting rule zenoss should send an email to the user or the specified address.
Now to my problem. I tried the rules by provoking some events. And all the events are listed on the events page. But the alerting rule for the event does not work everytime.
Sometimes I get an email, other times I do not recieve any email of this event.
Do you know if there is a problem in my configuration (SMTP host is specified)?
okay I did but there are "only" the following two lines written every minute.
INFO zen.ZenActions: Processed 0 commands in 0.000083
INFO zen.ZenActions: processed 12 rules in 0.06 secs
So the rules seem to work.
But I do not get an email although the Counter raised.
I just tried to disable and reenable the rule. And now I got some emails and there are the correct entrys in the zenactions.log (sent email). But only for one time. Next time the event occured I do not get an email. Is there a rule which checks if the rule was executed in the last x minutes?
Are you referring to the new alerts or the increase in count of the events ? As if you want the repeated alerts of the same event try using the repeat function.
Oh sorry, no im referring to the increased count of events.
I want to recieve an email everytime the count increases but I only get one after disabling and reenabling the alerting rule.
Set the "Repeat Time (secs)" setting to equal the event cycle time in the alert rule settings, say 5mins, if you are polling the respective datapoints evry 5mins.
It sounds like this is related to de-duplication. Perhaps look at the FAQs to change that behavior.
