Graph colors - transparency issue?

when i create a performance graph with more than one datapoint shown on it, i am finding that all subsequent points added after the first are coming up as a wrong/incorrect colour (showing as a paler version of what i request) - these later colours appear to be 50% transparent, or something?

as an example, this can be seen most easily if one charts two lines of the same colour, eg. a dark purple BF00FF - the first line will be the correct colour, the second line will be much lighter in colour.

i believe this change took place between zenoss 2.1 and 2.2 (possibly to do with this ticket - for transparency support in graphs)

the user interface prevents me from entering an 8 digit (rgba) hex code for these line colours as the ticket suggests, and only lets me enter a 6 digit (rgb) colour code.

is this intended behaviour? should i have unrequested transparency on all but the first datapoint? should i be able to enter rgba values to work around this?

i ask because i am porting some of my charts from an earlier zenoss (2.1 - which doesn't support the creation/export of zenpacks, or somesuch) to the latest zenoss (2.3) - with a view to creating and releasing a community zenpack.

in the older version of zenoss (2.1), my charts have bold brightly coloured lines whereas in the latest zenoss they appear rather washed out.

thanks in advance for any info on this matter,

I'm not sure if this fixes your issue, but 8 digit values are in the
    upcoming 2.4 release:

Why was this support dropped?  It's not in 3.2.1.  Using 8 byte values produces errors.  The stacked versus non-stacked transparent versus non is hardcoded now.
