I would like to see some simplified way of creating alert dependencies ie. this device/service/interface/blah relies on device/service/interface/blah to be up and if it isn't don't bother alerting. We just had an instance where a switch bounced and between the down/clear messages the pagers were running out of batteries.

L2 topology on the Google Maps would be very nice to see :)

Netflow and layer 2 mapping are something we are still investigating, what tools are there out there that you think Zenoss should either integrate with or provide similar functionality? We're open to suggestions, it's still in the research phase.

My all-time favourite layer2/3 network flow monitoring tool is ARGUS.

    See: http://www.qosient.com/argus

Integrating argus flows with Zenoss would be awesome. (Imagine being able to track top 10 talkers & listeners on any network on-the-fly, top 10 tcp/udp ports, top tcp/udp errors, rtt, jitter, etc...)

    My 0.02 cents.

AIX monitoring.. be it via SSH or whatever. Also something silly, but it would be nice to have "icons" that represent other products (not only Linux/Windows).. F5/AIX/Cisco/etc.

There is a zproperty zIcon that points to the icon you want to use.
If you find one or make one definitely send it along!

Guys, thats great! Do you plan to add some Radius server monitoring. Also it would be great if you add some SIP server monitoring feature... like SIPP http://sipp.sourceforge.net/

I am in need of radius monitoring too. Just something simple to make sure user authentication is working.

Just install the Nagios plugins :
    http://nagiosplugins.org/man/check_radius

You can integrate the check_radius command in Zennoss to check user authentication. Just add a command based data source to a template running the check_radius command. Zenoss has a Nagios parser.

Another vote for RADIUS monitoring and user auth.

Another vote for dependencies. This lack is the main reason why I can't recommend Zenoss for our production environment yet.

I completely agree with the need for dependencies within and between hosts. Even a step-by-step guide using event transforms would be extremely helpful (I've looked at some of the other messages/documents about transforms, but as a Python -illiterate end-user I have trouble understanding how I could make this work.)

Can anyone (Matt?) comment on this issue and its status?

    Thanks greatly,

    Bill Douglass

    RE: "Blue Crab" Release Plan
One thing I would like to see done with out user intervention is to have zenoss automatically stop checking a host if it fails a ping test. Recently I had to physically move a host and recieved a page on every service that was not running on an unplugged host. Even putting this host in maintance mode just kept generating events. I think that if a host is down the dependencies on that host should no longer be checked until this is back up.
