The Core 4 Bug Hunt continues!
Core 4 Alpha will soon become Core 4 Beta, so don't think that the hunt is over -- the BugHunt continues until Zenoss Core 4 is made available. The top 3 on the leaderboard will be able to choose from:
- MacBook Air (11" or 13")
- MacBook Pro (13" or 15")
- iMac (21" or 27")
- all-expenses-paid Zenoss Mastery Class for you, in Austin, Texas. (BTW, this is HUGE. I spent a week in Austin with Chet and he helped me create the OpenVZ ZenPack.)
But everyone who files a confirmed bug gets a limited edition t-shirt (these are great shirts, they're dark grey) and if you file an unconfirmed bug, you get a really cool retro limited edition sticker! So we lots of goodies to hand out to all participants, regardless of their contribution level.
Here are the latest leaderboard stats...
So here's what happened: Jane Curry has found a number of P1 and P2 bugs and has moved +53 to 77 points, while Andrea Consadori has advanced +54 to 156 points. David Petzel jumps ahead +12 points, and is now at 20. Good work everyone! Thanks for helping us to make Zenoss the best it can possibly be.
For those who may have just heard about the bughunt, here's how it works. We currently have Zenoss Core 4 Alpha available, and are creating new builds every few days which you can download, install and test on RHEL/CentOS 5/6 64-bit, or using our VMWare Virtual Appliance. You can also use David Petzel's 4x_alpha_builder script to auto-deploy on a fresh RHEL/CentOS 5/6 install. This script is a great way to fire off a new install for testing.
Once you have Core 4 Alpha up and running, start whacking on it, find bugs and file them on JIRA (following these instructions, see the part on JIRA) get points for valid bugs -- the more severe the bug, the more points you get. 8 points for a P1, 4 points for a P2, 2 points for a P3 and 1 point for a P4.
We are running the bughunt through the Core 4 Alpha and Beta, and are considering extending it through the release candidates as well, so there is still plenty of time for you to join, find bugs and be in contention for the first three spots on the leaderboard... and at the very least, get some cool free stuff
