As a sign of open-source good faith and a start to a revival in our community effort, we have some immediate changes to bring to the table:
- Jive community portal access for anyone who asks for it
- ZenPack page listing wiki-fication - opening to all for editing
- Free Knowledge Base (KB) access to the public
The Jive community portal is all pages under community.zenoss.org . If you are willing to work with us and the community as a whole, and you have a vision for change on some parts of our portal, we are more than willing to give you access and work together with all involved parties to bring the portal to its optimal usage. Just send us a request, or post to the forums - let us know what you might like to do.
The ZenPack page listing is going to be put into a wiki-like state, so that anyone, anywhere, anytime can edit and add to it. This will allow ZenPack devs to post their new ZenPacks in the listing; it will allow those who have tested ZenPacks to post compatibility status; it will allow those who want to see better organization of the area, to begin collaborating on it. Because edits will be wide open, we will also need eyes on it to revert incorrect or spam changes. I think we can all chip in here and make it a really up to date, useful extension center. We are in the process of enabling this.
We have developed an internal KB database of articles, built from over 4 years of dozens of Zenoss engineers knowledge. The articles are high quality, tested, and reviewed pieces of short, specific information ranging from 'General Performance Settings' to 'Configure Zenoss UI over HTTPS / SSL'. There are over 100 articles that we are continuing to migrate from our old system into Parature, the new enterprise support system. Definetely start checking out these gold nuggets!
We have more to come - looking forward to exceling this ever further.
