One Step Closer to Debian Support

Posted by shuckins on Jun 18, 2007 9:24:21 PM

Bernd, Fabio, and Stefano have gotten one step closer to getting Zenoss ready for Debian. Take a look at the first install of Zenoss from a Debian package. Thanks to the work of our three Debian savvy friends we are one step closer to having the ability to install Zenoss Core using apt.

To that point we are getting closer to launching a program to help those of you who want to port Zenoss to other distros or platforms. If you have interest in helping get Zenoss ready for Gentoo, OpenSolaris, BSD or any other platform drop me an email.

I hope these packages will be production ready soon. My company's usage of Zenoss has been postponed indefinitely because of the lack of decent packages.

After two "almost" working installs, I'm holding off until I see a working Debian/Ubuntu package.  I'd like to see some testing scripts that would tell you what part of the install is working and what is not right.

Any update on these Debian packages?  I would LOVE to get my hands on an Ubuntu package for Zenoss.  Thanks!
